We are dedicated to protecting our community from all types of emergencies. Our mission is to ensure the city is prepared to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters—whether natural or man-made.
We work closely with city departments including the Lynn Police Department, Public Health, and Public Works, as well as state and federal partners such as the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This all-hazards approach ensures a coordinated and effective response when seconds matter. We also collaborate with local nonprofits and volunteer organizations, including the American Red Cross, to provide comprehensive support during emergencies.

A prepared community is a resilient community. We encourage all residents to take an active role in their own safety by creating a family emergency plan, assembling a disaster supply kit, and staying informed. These steps can greatly improve your ability to respond to an emergency.
For real-time updates and important alerts, we encourage residents to sign up for Smart911, a free service that provides critical information to first responders and sends notifications about weather emergencies, parking bans, and other important events. Your participation helps strengthen the safety and well-being of the entire city.
