Arson Watch Reward Program

UP TO A $5,000 REWARD

The Arson Tip Award Program provides monetary rewards to individuals who supply information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson crimes. Since its inception, more than 200 communities have participated in the program.

In Massachusetts, reward applications are reviewed by a Reward Selection Committee made up of representatives from the Office of the Attorney General, the Commissioner of Insurance, the Massachusetts State Police, and two members of the property insurance industry.

In Rhode Island, the committee includes representatives from the Department of Public Safety–State Fire Marshal, the Department of Business Regulation Insurance Division, the Fire Chiefs Association, and the Police Chiefs Association. Any committee member may recuse themselves for good cause.

Rewards are determined based on the value and usefulness of the information provided and the level of assistance it offers in solving an arson case, with a maximum reward of $5,000. No reward application will be considered until an indictment has been issued.

While approximately 45% of reward recipients choose to participate in a public presentation with media coverage, public presentations are not mandatory and participation is entirely at the recipient’s discretion.
